In 1891, the City of Geneva decided to install the
Jet d’eau (Water Fountain) with electric lighting, however only in 1930 the
Water Fountain was permanently lit. The uniqueness of Water Fountain lies in
its stream - the speed of water reaches more then 200 km/h at the exit
pipe, thus the stream becomes 140 meters high. |
