Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt

Three ancient Pyramids are located at Giza city (Egypt), ancient necropolis of Memphis.

The Necropolis stands on Giza Plateau, on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt.

This Ancient Egyptian necropolis consists of Khufu Pyramid (known as the Great Pyramid or the Pyramid of Cheops), somewhat smaller Khafre Pyramid (or Chephren), and the relatively modest-size Menkaure Pyramid (or Mykerinus), along with a number of smaller satellite edifices, known as "queens" pyramids, causeways and valley pyramids, and most noticeably the Great Sphinx. Associated with these royal monuments are the tombs of high officials and much later burials and monuments associated with the reverence to those buried in the necropolis. This complex of ancient monuments is located eight km inland into the desert from Giza town on the Nile, 20 km southwest of Cairo city centre.

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the World. Egyptologists generally agree the pyramid was constructed over a 20 year period concluding around 2560 BC. It is generally believed the Pyramid of Giza was built as the tomb of Fourth dynasty Egyptian pharoh Khufu (Cheops), after whom it is sometimes called Khufu's Pyramid or the Pyramid of Khufu. Khufu's vizier, Hemiunu, is credited as the Pyramid of Giza architect.

As researchers believe the construction of The Great Pyramid of Giza over-went several phrases. First of all the the room for the construction was prepared. Then stone blocks were transported and placed (a mountain or stones are hardily locate at the nearest 400 miles around the area). After the surface of stones was smoothed the blocks were put in a place. Researchers propose about the technical pyramid construction issue, therefore it is still a mystery. Following general estimations, it was calculated that to build the Pyramid of Knufu - The Great Pyramid of Giza - it should work from 5 to 6 thousands people for around 35 - 40 years every day.
